How to achieve balance in design
Balance is our state of life. Every person should have a balance with his life, to work properly, and to rest properly. Balance is the key to success in the life of a designer. The balance between the elements makes the composition harmonious and attracts the attention of the audience. Balanced components help channel negative space in the right direction and capture the user’s attention. An unbalanced design can grab the user’s attention, but it doesn’t allow them to focus on the essentials. Balance in design creates depth and movement.
Symmetry
Symmetry appears between two identical halves of the image. There are two types of symmetry:
Axial symmetry – appears when symmetrical elements move around the same axis of rotation.
Bilateral symmetry is the most popular one used in presentation design. With it, the left and right sides of the slide design are identical to each other.
Asymmetry
Asymmetry occurs when contrasting elements in an image are arranged in such a way that it still appears balanced. In an asymmetrical image, white space plays an important role in the harmonious and balanced combination of elements. Asymmetrical balance is an effective way to grab the viewer’s attention.
Visual centre
The human eye determines the vertical axis of the visible object, if it turns out to be displaced, then the design does not seem to be as it should be. When creating a design, you should always take into account that all elements are correctly centred and pay due attention to this. Always be careful and keep an eye on these details.
In order to achieve balance in design, you need to practice and constantly create new designs, and improve your skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis.
